Swell perked up into the two metre range at 9 seconds from the SE yesterday afternoon, but it faded away overnight. As of 0400 it was back to 1.3 metres at 8 seconds from the south. From the look of Dee Why you’d be doing well to find something in the knee high range. At report writing time the wind was coming from the NW at 4 kts. However the Bureau tells us to expect the wind to come around to the NE and to ramp up to 15-25 kts. For the record, the next tide is a high at 0920 and it’ll be back to low at 1515. Ocean temperature is 17C according to Beachwatch. I wonder if it’ll drop after those NE winds….
Tomorrow is shaping to be windy too (N→NE→NW) and there doesn’t look like much hope for an improvement to the energy levels. So, if you have to miss a day, tomorrow might be a good choice. That isn’t to say later in the week will be much better, because this morning’s swell models are uniformly uninspiring. There does seem to be some hope for an improvement early next week… maybe….

Winds tend northerly as a high pressure system over eastern New South Wales moves into the western Tasman Sea this morning. A trough and southerly change look set to affect the southern half of the coast on Wednesday, before stalling and decaying as the Tasman high returns to dominance later Thursday.
