Hello Friends,
Light but steady rain this morning along with light westerly wind. There was a little wave activity, but it looked weak and disorganised at Dee Why. The MHL data from 0600 showed 2.3 metres of 9-sec swell from the south (160-162°).
The radar was still showing a fair amount of precipitation as of 0730 but it should fade by this afternoon. By then the wind should be around to the south at 15-20 kts. So not the most attractive day for a surf.
Nothing much of interest in the near-term forecast. Several of the models are showing some long period but very small SSE bump for early Saturday. Beyond that there seems to be some hope of an improvement, particularly when we get to mid next week – according to several models. At the more optimistic end of the predictions they’re talking chest to head plus at south magnets thanks to some very long period swell around Weds-Thrs.

Weather Situation
A cold front, which brought a southerly change to southern and central parts of the New South Wales coast earlier today, is continuing along the northern coast tonight, and will reach the Queensland border Thursday morning. Behind this, a high pressure system is expected to drift slowly across from the west during the next day or two, to be over the Tasman Sea by the weekend. This should result in a gradual return to northerly winds in most coastal areas on Friday and Saturday, before the next cold front and southerly change on Sunday.
