Sunday not showing much in the morning

Hello Friends,

Hazy, mild and breezy (SW 10-12kts) morning under a bright but mostly cloudy sky for Sunday. There seemed to be a small line at the point, but as of 0740 there didn’t appear to be anyone in the water there or along the beach to No Mans. The MHL Sydney buoy hasn’t reported in since early yesterday morning. In fact the nearest active unit is down at Batemans Bay where it was detecting 1.5 metres of 11.8 second SSE (156°) swell.  Tide was high at 0710 and will be back to low at 1300.

Wind is set to swing to the south and pick up across the day to be 20-30 kts by evening. Swell should come up with it, but I’m not too hopeful that the surf options will improve.

The southerly should blow all night and still be at it tomorrow morning when the Bureau says we can expect a mix of southerly and easterly swell. There might possibly be a few south options for the dawn patrol, but overall things aren’t looking exceptionally flash for Mon-Tues.

Wednesday and Thursday mornings look more hopeful at this stage. The models are still showing a long period influx on Thursday so we could see some solid sets but with long lulls.

We shall see…

Have a top old Sunday and keep on smilin’!

Weather Situation

A southerly change associated with a Southern Ocean cold front moved up the south coast of New South Wales last night and will move northwards up the north coast today. A strong high pressure system over the Bight is expected to rapidly push a ridge along the New South Wales coast in the wake of the change, thereby strengthening southerly winds along the southern and central coasts this afternoon and evening. Southerly winds are forecast to ease during Monday and then shift east to northeasterly on Tuesday as the high moves from the Bight to the Tasman Sea and weakens.
