Definitely a little more activity wavewise at Dee Why, but misting grey skies and somewhat chilly temps were combining to keep the punters to a minimum as of 0745. Wind was 10-15 kts down at North Head and tide was just reaching the 1.45 m high when I grabbed the snaps at 0745. The MHL buoy was seeing 2.7 m from the usual southerly direction (160-164°) but the period was only 7 seconds as of 0600 – meanwhile down the coast at Eden it’s gone up to 12 seconds. So, coming our way I’d guess.
According to various models, the longer period south stuff should stick around through midweek before ramping up into the 16 second range around Thursday. Wind velocities for the morning sessions should also be dropping back a bit over the next 3 days – which ought to help.
So not too flash for today, but a bit more hopeful for the following three to four days.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure south of the Bight is extending a ridge along the New South Wales Coast, thereby maintaining fresh southerly winds in the wake of a southerly change. Winds will gradually ease today and then shift east to northeasterly on Tuesday as the high moves drifts to the Tasman Sea and weakens. North to northeasterly winds are expected to increase mid week ahead of the next front, which is forecast to bring a southerly change to the south coast on Thursday.
