Smooth, grey and lightly raining early

Hello Friends,

More light rain for this morning – which is a good thing for parched gardens but makes the small to micro swell conditions less inviting. Wind was lightly offshore but waves were struggling to reach the waist high range. I’d call it ankle to knee with the odd waist. The MHL buoy data seemed to be offline, so no numbers to report this morning.

Tide will hit the 1.56 m high at 0850 and back to a lowish 0.35 m at 1450. Water is sitting on 18C.

This morning’s forecast from the Bureau says we can expect the swell to bump up a little across the day as the wind comes around to the SW. As noted for the last week or so, we’re expecting to see some long period south energy tomorrow and the Bureau has posted a warning about dangerous conditions. If we get into the 15-17 second range shown on the models’ outlook, there could be some solid sets. But, at those long periods, the lulls between sets will be equally long.

Beyond tomorrow’s pulse, the outlook is for a return to small to marginal conditions across the weekend and into next week.

Have a great Wednesday every one!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system near Tasmania is extending a ridge into the Tasman Sea, while a low pressure trough lies just off southern and central parts of the New South Wales coast. This trough will shift to the north coast tonight before weakening on Thursday as the high becomes dominant over the Tasman Sea. Northerly winds will increase on Thursday ahead of the next front, which is forecast to bring a southerly change to the southern half of the coast on Friday, before continuing to the north on Saturday. Behind this, a new high is expected to move across from the west on Sunday.
