Foggy start to Friday

Waiting for the fog to lift at 0800

Hello Friends,
As the picture shows, RealSurf HQ was fogged in this morning, so no ocean shots to begin with (will post something later when it burns off). Wind was coming lightly from the NNW and the latest MHL data from 0500 was showing 1.3 m of 5.6 second bump from the SE (132°). Given those numbers I wouldn’t expect to see much of anything surfable at Dee Why. Throw in a 1.73 m high tide at 0800, and the prospects dim even more.
We’re headed to a high of 29C this afternoon and once the fog clears, skies should be mainly clear.
The Goat delivered his first forecast for 2019 last night and, as always, I commend his wisdom to you.
Have a great Friday everyone!

Forecast issued at 4:10 am EDT on Friday 4 January 2019.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards southeast Queensland. This pattern is maintaining a fresh north to northeasterly wind regime along the entire coast. A trough and associated southerly change looks set to affect the far south coast this evening, and extend to central parts of the coast during Saturday, before stalling over northern parts of the coast on Sunday. Winds shift east to northeasterly across the Waters during Monday as the trough decays and a new high pressure ridge extends along the New South Wales coast.
