Bumps here and bumps there

Hello Friends,

a 1.38 m high tide at 0900 meant fairly fat and full conditions for surfing in Sydney this morning. There’s definitely a little swell around too. Size looks to be in the knee to waist plus range thanks to a mix of NE and SSE swells in the metre plus range. Period is around the 8-9 sec mark, so I wouldn’t be expecting tremendous power.

Wind is light as the day gets started, but it should pick up from the SW later. Water temp has nudged down to 20C and water quality from Narrabeen south to and including the Bower is rated as pollution possible grading to pollution likely.

Looks as though the swell should bumble along in the surfable range for the remainder of the work week, but wind will intermittently be an issue.

Meanwhile here in Southern California the nearest surfable waves are an hour or so south of where I am. As you can see from the pics below, it’s about the same size as Sydney once you get down to California street in Ventura, and then it’s a little bigger again once you’re in southern Orange county. Water’s about 15C in Venturua but it’s getting toward 19C at Trestles.

Have a fine old Wednesday everyone!

California Street midday Tuesday, peaky and not super busy either
Must be a comp on, only 4 people in the water for head high Lowers!
Not super busy at Church (near Trestles) at midday

Weather Situation

Fresh to strong south to southwesterly winds are expected today in response to a cold front developing over the western Tasman Sea. Generally southerly winds are then expected to prevail for much of the remaining week as a large high pressure system slowly approaches the region from the west.
