Swell picked up yesterday and toward evening when I checked it, there were head high plus sets at the best exposures. This morning looks to be less consistent but as of 0500, the 1.6 m SSE swell was packing some 16-17 second component, so although I didn’t catch any when I took the pictures, I’d expect the odd shoulder plus. Surface conditions were relatively smooth but quite lumpy and bumpy thanks to the overnight NE wind. It was 4-5 kts ENE at 0820, but as the forecast below indicates, it’ll pick up before long and surf options will contract to the north ends.
Tide was a 1.8 m high at 0735 and is now dropping to the low at 1415. The day will warm up to a high of 26 along the coast and we can expect it to be partly cloudy with a 50% chance of light percipitation. Water quality should be fine and temp is now around the 21C mark.
The lumpy bumpy conditions look like sticking around for Christmas day and on into the week, although the juicier long period stuff will likely fade out over the next 24 hours, leaving us with soft, messy conditions.

Weather Situation
A weakening trough lies over northeast New South Wales, while a high pressure system is moving slowly across the southern Tasman Sea. This high will remain dominant in the region during the next few days promoting northeasterly winds across the coastal waters, apart from weak southerly changes that are expected over southern waters on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.
