Six to 8 kts of SSW wind early at Dee Why under grey skies this morning. Happily the dense bush smoke of yesterday has disappeared. Only a tiny hint of wave energy evident at the beach as we come into the 1.78m high tide a little before 0800. I’d call it ankle to knee and weak. Earlier this morning the MHL buoy was showing 1.6 m of 11-second swell from the SSE (162°).
Wind should swing to the south soon before going NE in the afternoon. It doesn’t look as though we can expect any improvement on the wave front though. As always I’ll be interested to see what the Goat thinks of our prospects for the weekend and beyond. My reading of the models makes me a little hopeful about prospects for the north corners in a couple of days…

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea will gradually move towards New Zealand over the coming days. Meanwhile, a trough extending from the northern inland of New South Wales is bringing southerly winds to southern and central waters. Winds will gradually turn north to northeasterly today and into Friday ahead of an approaching cold front. This front is forecast to bring a vigorous southerly change along the New South Wales coast later Friday and during Saturday, reaching the far northern coast by Sunday.

Southerly 10 to 15 knots, reaching up to 20 knots inshore in the afternoon. Winds becoming northeasterly to southeasterly about 10 knots in the late afternoon.
