Sun and surf

Hello Friends, If you’re keen and willing to run the risk of a nasty infection, there are head high and a bit wave faces to be found. There were a few people at the point, but it looked kinda messy. Things were a little cleaner but still raw up the beach toward Longy. Like all […]

Foamy south Narrabeen

Went down to south Narrabeen to see what was happening near high tide. Swell was big and scrappy. Totally unsurfable storm stuff. But sea foam was piling up down toward Marquesas, so I went down and grabbed a few pictures…

Heavy fog early

Hello Friends, Swell peaked last night and looks to be dropping rapidly – not that it much matters. Conditions are extremely messy and junky, plus the water is highly likely to be polluted with run-off. Next tide is a 2.02 m high at 0955. Will try to add a picture or two when the fog […]

Not fit for man nor beast

Hello Friends, Went down to the beach for a look just on high tide. Wind was roaring and the pelting rain soaked me in seconds, so I couldn’t get any decent pictures. You’d have to be barking mad to try surfing in these insane conditions. As we approach midday, wind is still smashing along at […]

Lumpy Saturday morning

Hello Friends, A break in the rain early Saturday morning. As of 0620 the wind was out of the ESE at 13-17 kts and out at sea the MHL buoy was seeing 2.7 metres of 7-second energy from 140-152° (ESE). There were some sizable looking sets along the Collaroy to Narrabeen stretch which, combined with […]

Warriewood warning

“Partially treated discharge at Warriewood at 0902hrs February 7th. Flows receiving wet weather treatment.” Ps: looked as though Narrabeen lagoon entrance opened too.

Not the morning for it

Made the Manly crawl this morning. Pouring rain and lots of us in cars, clogging the roads. The ocean looked awful. Straight onshore was smashing the soft looking east wind bump. A good day to give it a pass.

The Goat’s Surf Forecast

The Goat’s Surf Forecast Surf forecast issued Thursday 6 February 2020: Seven day outlook: Great to see the rain… and some more good falls are forecast over coming days. There’ll be continuing waves from the East, courtesy of a big High, but the forecast is for the waves and the rain to come with wind, […]

Tiny early on Thursday

Hello Friends, The Bureau has a surf conditions warning this morning, but I couldn’t see any sign of dangerous conditions at Long Reef or Dee Why this morning. Indeed, as the pictures show, it was only just barely surfable at Longy. Looking at the latest MHL data as of 0400, there was 1.4 metres of […]

Clear air to start but only tiny

Hello Friends, The first haze free morning in weeks saw smooth seas at Dee Why with only a very tiny little line evident. The point’s not on the menu, but if you wander up the beach toward Longy, it looks as though you might find the odd knee high bump. As of 0700, there was […]
