Clean small and crowding up quickly

Hello Friends,

Clean, little and a bit chilly as Saturday kicked off along the beaches. Water was getting crowded at anywhere with a plausible peak. Swell at sea was 1.7 m at 11-12 seconds apart from 169° (south by SSE) but along the beaches the size ranged from knee to waist to waist to chest plus, depending on how well tuned a spot was to the swell. Water is 21C. Wind was out of the west at around 10kts. Tide was high at 0510 and is dropping to the low at 1145. Weather should be sunny with a high of 23C.

Tomorrow looks like being onshore, cloudy with a chance of a shower and an uptick in the dead south swell.

The rest of the week is shaping to be kind of marginal, particularly mid-week. So nothing special in the forecasts, but not terrible for those taking their exercise in the water.

Maintain your distance folks!

By Order of the Federal Government, our beaches are open for exercise only – surfing, swimming, running and walking.  Beaches will be closed due to unsafe conditions and or mass gatherings. All pools are closed at this time.

Please see some commonly asked questions about the beach closures.

If people are sunbaking or gathering on the beach, they will be asked to move along by our lifeguards, rangers or the police.

Due to the risk of Coronavirus and acting on direction of NSW and Federal Governments, Council has closed many public areas. View the latest updates on the evolving situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19).

In addition, it is against the law to gather with more than two people in public, except:

  • for members of the same household
  • where the gathering is essential for work or education
  • If you go out, stay 1.5 metres away from other people at all times.

The rules are also now enforceable and Police are issuing fines of $1000 for individuals and $5000 for companies. These are difficult circumstances and we appreciate your patience and understanding.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough will linger near the northern coast today whilst a ridge will extend over the southern waters from a high pressure system over South Australia. The high will move over New South Wales on Sunday and then persist over the state for the next few days. Meanwhile, a cold front will slip away to the south of the high on Monday, but will bring freshening northwest winds to southern waters on Monday.
