1000 update
Stopped in Manly to grab a few pics between showers at North Steyne. Some meaty sections with the odd 2x overhead bomb to keep it interesting. A lot of work though, so you needed to be keen and fit because the makeable ones were hard to pick from the hopeless missions. There were waves over at the Bower as well, but the waits were long and size was in the chest plus range. The real energy was at North Steyne. Curly was a write-off and around at Dee Why there were a dozen in the water trying to jag the 1.5x overhead set waves but for some reason the tide, swell angle and period just weren’t working for the point. It was really lumpy and chaotic despite the abundant energy.
Swell is gradually fading. This morning saw 3.7 metres of 11 second energy from the SE, so down about a metre from yesterday. Wind was SW 10-15 kts with the odd gust and it was too rainy to take pictures from the crows nest. So a bit later for those. Ocean temp is sitting on 20C.
The wind is set to come around to the SE soon, so surface conditions aren’t likely to improve today. The models show swell energy fading out over the next 24-48 hours as we return to more typical conditions.

Weather Situation
A deep and complex low pressure system over the Tasman Sea brought vigorous south to southwesterly winds and large waves to much of the New South Wales coast during the past couple of days. This low is expected to linger offshore, gradually weakening and moving a little further north during Tuesday and Wednesday, before moving away to the east mid-week.
