Little waves and gloomy skies

Hello Friends, Glassy and knee to waist high at the beach this morning. There were a few folks in the water at the point, waiting for the occasional set to come through. Wind was out of the west at 8-9 kts under mostly cloudy and rainy looking skies. Out at sea the swell is dead […]

The Goat’s Surf Forecast

The Goat’s Surf Forecast Surf forecast issued Thursday 11 June 2020: Seven day outlook for Sydney: Funny old week.. The Bureau forecasts seemed to be a day ahead or behind themselves at times, so TG didn’t know what day it was. But some people say that about him all the time anyway… Wind’s cold, shade’s […]

Proper pea-souper this morning

Hello Friends, RealSurf HQ was socked in at day break. Visibility was down to 200 m or less. Out at sea the buoy data showed that the swell has dropped into the 1.2 metre range, but that the period has jumped up to 12-13 seconds from the SE. Figure waist with the odd plus. Wind […]

Soft and glassy at Dee Why

Out and about this morning and can report there were glassy knee to waist high waves at kiddies corner as of 0930. Waves are very close together so pretty weak. They stand up for a second or two, so there’s enough time to get in a turn or two before you sink out.

Smaller, bumpier but not flat

Hello Friends, As of 0900 the wind hadn’t picked up enough to blow out the corners. Manly to Queenscliff was pretty much missing any swell, but that didn’t deter a reasonable number of hopefuls. There was only a bit more size at Curly however when you watched for awhile it became apparent just why there […]

Waves for holiday Monday

Hello Friends, Dead south, 2.4 metres at 8-13 seconds meant some overhead sets for the numerous wavehunters in the water from the point and on up the beach. Wind was coming from the west a 9-10 kts with the odd higher gust. Wind is expected to go south soon, so earlier meant more options. It […]

Fading out but a few bumps left to play on

Hello Friends, As expected, the energy levels have decreased again overnight and Sunday morning saw knee to waist high lines appearing every now and then. Fair number of hopefuls in the water under mostly overcast skies and with relatively mild temps. Out at sea the buoys were seeing 1.5 m of 9-10s energy from 152° […]

Pumping Saturday morning

Hello Friends, Short version: get out there! Swell is 2 metres at 11 seconds from 137° (ESE) as of 0730. So it’s down a bit from yesterday, but still pretty solid with bomb set wave faces at magnets showing head and a bit. Naturally it’s busy, but it also seems to be pretty consistent. It […]

Heaps of waves, heaps of people

Hello Friends, It was all happening at Dee Why this morning. I counted at least 50 people along the bits of the beach I can see from the crows nest and I’d say there’d be 30 or more at the point. Size is in the head high to 1.5x overhead range and it looked to […]
