Dark and stormy Tuesday

Hello Friends,

Swell’s popped up overnight as expected, but so too has the wind. The latter was 20-30kts from the south as of 0900 and out at sea the buoys were seeing 4m at 9 seconds from the SSE. From the look of the radar, the rain is mainly hitting up toward the Newcastle region. While we may not get a lot more rain this morning, the wind will hammer along at 25-40 kts from the south and the swell should build today. Water quality is generally okay for now, but Beachwatch has flagged Collaroy as “pollution possible”.

Tomorrow should see the swell peak into the 5 metre range and the wind to be blasting but coming from the SW so there might possibly be a plausible option in a south corner for the very fit and very keen… weather will be ‘orrible though.

Stay safe!

A bit of activity at 0830

Weather Situation
A low pressure system over the Tasman Sea is deepening. This system will whip up blustery winds and powerful waves along parts of the New South Wales coast today, with conditions gradually easing later in the week as the low moves east towards New Zealand and a high pressure ridge moves over the state from the west.
