No waves at Dee Why this morning.
Wind was 18-26 kts from the west. There’s a gale warning, so we can expect it to blow even harder as the day goes along. And that means that although the swell at sea has actually started to come up, those fierce winds are keeping the energy from getting into the beach. It isn’t up spectacularly (1.4 metres at 4-5 seconds) from the south.
As you can see from the forecast below, the Bureau is calling for large and powerful surf conditions tomorrow as the swell builds into the 3-4 metre range by the afternoon. But, the wind will still be roaring and swell will be dead south with current predictions saying periods will be around the 10 second mark – meaning it won’t refract much into spots that aren’t facing south.

Weather Situation
A complex low pressure system with its main centre over the southern Tasman Sea is directing a series of cold fronts and troughs across southeast Australia, bringing vigorous westerly winds to New South Wales waters. Conditions are expected to gradually ease later Sunday and Monday as the low moves away to the east and is replaced by a high pressure system. This high looks set to become the dominant feature over the state during the coming week, promoting a return to lighter winds.
