Nothing doing at Dee Why this morning I’m afraid. Weather was looking nice though. It was already a comparatively mild 15C as of 0700 under sunny skies with 10-12 kts of WNW breeze. Sadly, as the pictures show, the surf situation is that there isn’t any for Dee Why. Out at sea the waverider buoy was showing 1.2 metres at choppy 6 seconds apart from the SE. Water is clean and around the 17C mark. High tide was at 0710 and it’ll be back to low at 1245.
The Bureau and the models show the possibility of a slight bump in the swell late this afternoon, but it doesn’t really look like being much of an improvement. Prospects seem a little more hopeful for tomorrow morning when the period stretches out into the 9-10 second range with swell heights at sea getting into the 2 metre range. It’s predicted to be dead south, so I’m not expecting a wealth of surf opportunities, but there should at least be something…

Weather Situation
An approaching cold front has brought a strong southerly change to the southern coast overnight. This change is expected to push through to central parts of the coast this morning, before easing as it moves along the northern coast later today. Northerly winds are then forecast to increase from Tuesday as another cold front approaches from the west.
