NE bumps for the keen before the wind ramps up

Hello Friends,

Dee Why was seeing a few little waist high sets, but for the most part it was smaller than that, plus there seemed to be a fair old wait between wave catching opportunities. There were a few people hanging around at the point too, but if anything the waits looked to be longer than at the beach. A good day for a relaxed, unhurried attitude and something appropriate for the soft conditions. The Bureau’s hoiseted a strong wind warning for 20-30 kts on N-NE wind today. By 0700 the breeze was already 7-10 kts from the NNE. Out at sea the buoys were seeing 1.4 metres of ENE wind bump at 7 seconds apart. Ocean temp is on 20C. Tide hit a 1.56 m high at 0630 and is currently running out to the low at 1230. We’re heading to a high of 26C with a 40% chance of a thundery shower.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is extending a ridge to the northern New South Wales coast whilst a low pressure trough lies over the state’s west. This combination is directing north to northeasterly winds over the coastal waters. The trough looks set to bring a southerly change late today and on Friday.
