A little grey wave at the point

Hello Friends,

Summer solstice sees dull grey skies and everyone staying home – unless they’re getting supplies, seeing the doc, helping pop and nanna or exercising. Or, the way I like to think about it, those activities are the only ones where virus exposure or transmission is considered an acceptable risk to you and the community. I’m getting out for exercise, but putting the mask on if I’m going to be within 5 metres of anybody. Getting this virus is a non-trivial event for a substantial percentage of those who are infected. I hope the government will make masking mandatory so that we don’t have to just hope the heedless maskless minority won’t keep threatening the rest of us.

As the picture shows, there are little knee high waves running along the rocks at the point. Swell at sea was 1.5 metrs at 8 seconds from the NE as of 0930. So, better exposures should be producing the odd waist to chest high set.  Wind was light SSE before 1000, but it should pick up later.  Low tide was at 0755 and will be back to a moderate 1.49 m high at 1410. Water quality away from lagoon entrances should be okay, and temp is sitting on 21C.

Surf prospects look to be similar to the current conditions tomorrow, then maybe on Wednesday we’ll get a south + NE swell combo with sunny skies and offshore wind for the early….

Little wave along the rocks

Weather Situation

Winds are easing with the weakening of a trough near the northern New South Wales coast. On Monday winds are expected to turn north to northeasterly as another trough develops over inland New South Wales. Within this second trough, a transient low pressure system may briefly form on Tuesday morning and move away to the east in the evening, accompanied by strengthening northeast to southeasterly winds. After this, winds will turn southwest to southeasterly as the low moves away and a ridge of high pressure develops along the coast.
