A low pressure system lies over the western Tasman Sea while a high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge into western New South Wales. This pattern is bringing fresh to strong southerly winds to most coastal areas today. During Tuesday and Wednesday the low is forecast to move away to the southeast while the ridge extends to the Tasman Sea, causing winds to ease and turn east to northeasterly. The next trough and southerly change are expected to affect southern and central parts of the coast near the end of the week.
