The Goat’s Surf Forecast
Surf forecast issued Thursday 4 March 2021: Seven day outlook for Sydney:
Lots of variety with the weather but hey it’s the changeover season. Still some nice days ahead.
Waves have been plentiful but not necessarily good at some places, while others haven’t had much surf if they were too sheltered from the swell direction. So if you got good surf, lucky you!
More variabilty ahead, and they say variety is the spice of life. If you’re lucky enough to get in the water, go for it, but surf within your capabilities.
The Bureau has issued Large Surf warnings for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday… see Weather from the Bureau below>>> But BoM doesn’t tell you the swell direction in the daily weather forecast.
TG can tell you the swell will be coming from due South/ South East.
So the dangerous surf conditions will apply mainly to beaches open to the South/ South East, while others sheltered from the South, like say Manly, won’t see a lot of that on the beach; along the beach; Queensie will likely see some. Wave quality will depend on the wind conditions on the day. You’ll probably have to pick that combination of enough of a wave without too much wind… Stating the bleeding obvious to the experienced, but for learners best for you to look and learn.
For swimmers, expect some beaches to be closed, others open.
Friday: say lower 1-2 metre range early on, coming up from due South through the day, at places open to the South
Saturday: somewhere around the 3-4 metre range dead South, at places open to the South
Sunday: around 3-4 metres maybe, 2-3 metre range South/ South East, at places open to South /South East
Monday: easing back through the day, somewhere in the upper, moving to lower, 1-2 metre range South/ South East
Tuesday: easing back a little more in the 1-2 metre range East South East
Wednesday: ditto, then up a little, from South /South East
Thursday: in the lower end of the 1-2 metre range South East.

If surf conditions on any given day aren’t for you… doesn’t matter. That won’t last forever.
