Monday waves

Hello Friends,

Late report as I went for a surf at the Bower first to beat the wind. There was a reasonably healthy crew on it but the sets were turning up with some regularity. The biggest ones were delivering overhead wave faces. Quality wasn’t spectacular but there were lots of smiles in the water and the vibe was cheerful. Coming home, I checked out North Curl Curl and grabbed what turned out to be today’s hero pic (above). Compared to the Bower, the crowd was tiny, plus the NE’r wasn’t chopping it up yet. Around at Dee Why the size was similar and the crowds were too, but it’s obviously more exposed too.

As of midday the swell was 1.5 m, which was down from closer to 2 m at daybreak. Period was nearly 12 seconds and the direction was close to dead east.  Wind was around 10 kts and steadily picking up. It looks like we might have some waist high stuff at E to SE exposures for the early tomorrow, but the models showing the longer period energy being replaced with short period NE wind bump during the morning. And then the models are indicating weak and small conditions for the rest of the week – at least.

Hope you got in!
