"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

You’re kidding right?

Hello Friends,

It’s blowing a gale. So, no, you won’t be getting in the water this morning. To put some numbers on it, as of 0900 when I grabbed the snap between the torrential downpours, the wind was coming from the SSE at 26-38 kts. Swell was 4.5 metres at 11 seconds from the ESE.

As you can see from the official forecast below, there’s no immediate prospect of an improvement over the next 72 hours. The longer range models are showing the wind swinging to the WSW on Friday, but the rain is set to continue into next week. So it might be surfable on Friday but it’ll probably be with grey skies and questionable water quality. Personally, I’m keeping the powder dry for now.

Stay safe everyone!

Weather Situation

A trough across the central coast extends from a low over the Tasman Sea, while a strong high over the Great Australian Bight extends a ridge to the southern Tasman Sea. The combination of these features is bringing strong to gale force winds and large surf about central parts of the coast. The trough will linger about the northern half of the coast on Tuesday, with winds and surf easing during Wednesday or Thursday. The high is expected to drift across southeast Australia to the southern Tasman Sea mid-week, after which there are indications that a new trough may move along the coast.
