Scrappy Sunday surf

Hello Friends,

We have waves again this morning, but not the super clean conditions of early yesterday. Dee Why looked particularly rippy and confused when I grabbed the pics a little after 0800. Wind was 5-8 kts from the west and the 2.3 metre, 9-second south swell was producing chest to maybe occasionally head high set wave faces. Tide was low at 0810 and will be back to high at 1500. Weather outlook is for mostly sunny conditions with a high of 22C and water is still on 19C.

Outlook is for the swell to hold at about the current intensity today and for the wind to gradually settle around to the north quarters this afternoon. Tomorrow the wind call is for northerlies and a slight decrease in wave energy as the period gets a bit shorter. Tuesday’s looking like maybe improving a bit with more east to the swell, north wind and sunny skies in the morning ahead of a rainy south change. Wednesday seems to be shaping to be dead south with some size at sea but sub-10 sec periods and stiffish SW wind. The back half of the work week doesn’t look like being big, but while there should be waves of some sort (waist plus?) wind could be an issue in the afternoons.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Weather Situation

Fresh southerly winds along the coast are easing as a high pressure system in the west moves over the state today. On Monday, northwesterly winds are expected to increase ahead of a significant cold front, which will bring a strong southerly change on Tuesday.
