Sunny Sunday surf day morning

Hello Friends,

Your correspondent is back at RealSurf HQ this morning and I’m pleased to report that thanks to relatively light N-NW wind and 1.5 metres of 9-10 sec SSE swell, there were little waves to be had at Dee Why.  The wind is set to kick into the 15-20 kt range as it goes more NE, so the plan – as usual – is hit it earlier rather than later. Set wave faces looked to be in the chest high range as of 0800. Tide hits a fullish 1.78 metres at 1015 and then drains back out to a 0.4 m low at 1700. We should see a high of 27 and weather is expected to be sunny. Water temp is on 20C.

Outlook for a showery one tomorrow with lots of N-NE wind and a mix of short period NE and south wind swell. The weather gets better from Tuesday, but swell is shaping to be on the weak and puny side. I’ve got my eye on Thursday-Friday-Saturday at the moment because at least one model is showing a rare (for summer) combo of offshores, sunny skies and 2+ metres of SE swell in the 10-12 second range.

Have yourself a top old Sunday.

Weather Situation

Northerly winds increasing today ahead of a trough approaching from the west. This trough, and an associated cold front, will bring a vigorous west southwesterly change to southern and central parts during Monday and the remainder early Tuesday. Winds in most areas will briefly turn northeasterly again late Tuesday, before a low near Tasmania brings another southerly change on Wednesday.
