Saturday Surf Report

The sea is a lumpy bumpy confused unattractive mess.

Strong southerly /southeasterly winds blowing yesterday and overnight are continuing to push some sizeable swell along most of the NSW coastline.
Wind in Sydney is currently 35-40 kph SSE
Sydney waverider buoy is showing 2.8 m SE swell with a 10.8 second period, which means there’s some push behind it.
Down south, the Batemans Bay buoy has 2.2 m ESE at 9 seconds.
Up north Coffs Harbour  currently has 1.6m ESE at 11 seconds. The Byron buoy has gone adrift.
Surf will be smaller in sheltered corners which will have the best prospects for a rideable wave, though they are still likely to be uninspiring.
The wind and swell is expected to generally ease from south to north along the coast over coming days.
The swell has moved a lot of sand around creating strong rips, which are likely to be still be a risk to the unwary even in smaller surf.
People on holidays particularly at more remote beaches should exercise caution in view of the large number of rescues,  and drownings, over the Christmas New Year period..

Have a great day.
