An empty oil tanker, the Polar Bright leaves its load behind in Sydney where it will be burnt to destroy our grandchildrens' future.

No surf for Dee Why this morning

Hello Friends,

No waves were evident at Dee Why as Wednesday got started. Looks like a nice day though. The waves could come up later though. According to the marine forecast the current metre or so of 5-sec SSW wind bump will build a little around midday as a southerly fills in. Tomorrow might be a bit better as the swell sticks around and the SE wind fades toward midday. But I’m not too excited about the likely quality because the models aren’t showing any improvement to the anaemic period settings until maybe Sunday.

Oh well, we can’t complain about a lack of surf this year, can we?

Have a great Wednesday everyone and see you again tomorrow.

ps:
In case you’re wondering, that’s empty oil tanker the Polar Bright leaving Sydney and in the background is some sort of US Navy vessel. (The backstory on this tidbit: the Goat showed me a maritime transport app he uses to find out the names of ships he spots from his own Crows nest at Avalon, so, now I’m equipped similarly. Because of course!)

Weather Situation

Northerly winds are freshening ahead of a cold front which will bring a fresh southerly wind change to the south coast early this morning, and the remainder of the coast later today. Winds will ease towards the end of the working week as a ridge of high pressure develops and become the dominant feature. Then a coastal trough looks set to develop about the South Coast on Saturday and heads north, while another high pressure system develops further south near Tasmania, bringing another south to southeasterly wind change along the coast during the weekend.
