"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Super small Sunday

Hello Friends,

The two folks in the water at the point when I grabbed this morning’s snaps definitely had the right equipment for the extremely tiny lines that were periodically turning up. The MHL buoy was detecting 1.2 metres of 16-second SSE swell at 0700, so there might be very occasional sets turning up at magnets that don’t require a kayak to catch. That long period will probably deliver shutdowns along the beaches, so you’ll need a south magnet plus some structure. Oh, and a fair amount of patience too.

Surf outlook for the coming week remains ho-hum, but the models are indicating a spike in the energy levels around Friday as a short period 2-ish metre south pulse fills in. Annoyingly, the forecast shows 10-15 kts of southerly wind arriving at the same time. The GFS model shows the wind backing off (but staying onshore) on Saturday as the swell runs out of puff. All of this can, of course, change between now and then…

Have a fine Sunday everyone!
