The odd little bump on Sunday morning

Hello Friends,

A steady NE since yesterday made for slightly choppy and lumpy looking surface conditions at Dee Why. Swell at sea was 1.6 m, 9-second from the east when the MHL buoy sampled the conditions at 0600. Waves looked to be in the waist to maybe chest high range at Dee Why, but the fact that there were only three or four people in the water at the point on a sunny Saturday morning suggests they’re not too common. It looks as though this morning is about as good as it gets for rest of the day. The forecast tells us that tomorrow we can expect another little NE pulse into the 2 metre range, along with NW wind for the early. Beyond that, the models are telling us to expect small, short period stuff for the front half of next week. On Thursday the models are pointing to us waking up to southerlies and a solid 2-3 metre (but short period) south wind swell. Friday looks southerly on the ECM model.

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system centred over the southern Tasman Sea is moving slowly eastward while a developing low pressure system over South Australian Coast is deepening while heading to the southeast towards Tasmania. A cold front associated with the low is expected to cross the coastal waters this weekend, with strengthening northerly winds followed by a west to southwesterly wind change behind the front on Sunday into Monday. Winds will turn northerly again on Tuesday ahead of the next cold front that looks set to cross the coastal waters during the midweek next week.
