Waves early on Wednesday

Hello Friends,

Heading for another warm one (27) with showers and a late south change. At daybreak the wind was NNE at 9-14 kts and swell was 1.9 metres from the east at around 9 seconds apart. Tide was high at 0600 and will be back to a 0.58 low at 1300. There weren’t many in the water at Dee Why, which tells you something about the swell/tide combo. Just not really doing it. So, might be a plan to look elsewhere.

Tomorrow isn’t looking too crash hot as we’re due to have 25-30 kts of southerly, swing SE. Swell could be okay size, but surf options are going to be severely limited. As the wind backs off overnight, Friday might be a little more interesting as the models show the 1.5 metre 9-sec swell getting distinctly more ESE with light wind in the morning. So maybe…

Have a great Wednesday!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system centred over New Zealand drifts east while a trough lying along the north coast is decaying. North to northeasterly winds in the south will become strong ahead of an approaching cold front, which looks set to bring a strong to gale force southerly change to the southern and central coast on Wednesday before reaching the north coast on Thursday. Behind this, the next high pressure system over the Bight will extend a ridge across the south while slowly moving east through the second half of the week. The next significant change looks set to cross the state early next week.
