Hello Friends,
Steady W-WNW wind as the morning got started was making for clean (and cold) conditions at the beach. Swell should start filling in as the day goes along, but as of 0730, there were only unsurfably tiny little lines showing at the Dee Why end of the beach. The swell was making for catchable but somewhat gutless looking waist to waist plus waves for the hardy folks at the Lugga and inside Longy.
The MHL data from 0600 showed 2 metres of 9 second almost dead south swell out at sea. The wind is going to ramp up into the 20-25 kt range from the W-SW, so that, combined with a very straight and shortish period, pretty much dead south swell adds up to surfable bumps at the magnets. Judging by this morning at Long Reef, I’d guess that there could be the odd shoulder plus face on bomb sets later. Tide was high at 0600 and is currently dropping to the low at 1115.
The Goat will be along later with his week-ahead outlook on our surf prospects, so I’ll just observe that the weekend looks potentially interesting to me (for south spots of course) and so too does mid-next week. Wonder if his Goatness will concur…
Weather Situation
Winds will tend south to southwesterly and gradually ease today as a strong high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge towards eastern New South Wales and becomes the dominant weather feature for the remainder of the week.
