Dee Why: Hot N Flat. Holding pattern continues. Ugly water.

The algal bloom seems to have dispersed a bit from yesterday but it’s still pretty ugly in the water today. Never mind–no waves to be had anyway. It’s hot, it’s flat and there’s a light breeze from the ENE at 1500 hrs. Maybe enough for a kite later but don’t bother with the surfing.   […]

Dee Why: Red Tide (algal bloom) incoming!

Not looking in the least inviting out there this arvo. A nasty-looking red algal bloom coming round the corner from down south at 133hrs heading toward Dee Why Centre and Longy. Wouldn’t wanna be out there swimming or surfing in it. Never mind the surf-it just ain’t happening today. Waiting period continues       […]

Dee Why: weak

Quite a few desperates out for a paddle at Longy but it’s nothing but tiny. Really tiny. Light nor’easter that’s forecast to build to 20 knots later in the day before a thunderstorm.

Dee Why: Oozing ennui.

It’s grey, sleepy sort of day, but the BOM promises sunny skies later in the day. Nothing doing in the swell/waves department. A little bump in swell is predicted for tomorrow but only a tad and the rain returns with a southerly arriving Friday afternoon or evening. Warringah Council has been laying some pipes around […]

Dee Why: hot and flat

Working its way toward 28C today. Overcast, no wind to speak of and very small surf. Point not really breaking. Some tiny ones up toward the Pole.

Dee Why: Sunny summer day–not much surf.

Too hot to sit for very long in the sun without breaking into a sweat today but it’s a spectacular day, just don’t expect too much surf. Looking at the charts last night you’d have thought we’d have awoken to a decent swell and a light nor’easter. Instead, it’s small with a light sou’easter. BOM […]
