PICS: Dee Why beach Sat am

Posted on April 12th, 2015 in Dee Why, Don's surfin' pics.

A somewhat lumpy but sizable south swell was on the fade Saturday morning, so heaps of folk were in the water at Dee Why trying to add to their lifetime wave tallies. Here are a few samples from my latest gallery of regular folks like you catching waves…

Piccies from the big but grey morning at Dee Why

A selection of shots from this morning’s activity at the point. It was pretty crowded and not super clean, but the bomb sets made things interesting for those of us who had a go. Herewith a sample of the 150 image gallery these images all link to. Enjoy!

Pics: North Narrabeen at noon, Thursday

Posted on April 2nd, 2015 in Don's surfin' pics, North Narrabeen.

Had a few spare minutes and so I stopped by Northy and grabbed about 80 snaps of people making the most of the weak, small and messy conditions. Even so, it was way better than I’d expected to see given how direly tiny it was at Dee Why this morning. Clicking on a pic will take you to the original in the my gallery…

After getting a few waves myself, I went and grabbed the camera to do a bit of shooting at Dee Why point on Friday morning.

Swell was showing around 3 metres at 12 seconds from the SSE at that stage and there was quite a crew on it. By the time I got out of the water, the tide was just beginning to really drop and the waves were improving.

So, herewith a few samples from the resulting gallery.

Pics: Sat am, Dee Why point

The hefty swell of the day before had backed off a fair amount for Saturday, but there were still a few double-overhead bombs keeping things interesting for the 40-odd people in the water around 0900. There are 90 pictures in the main gallery which, as usual, you get to simply by clicking on any of the pictures in the slideshow below.

PICS: Friday morning at big Dee Why point

Swell bumped up overnight on Friday morning it was steaming in at 3-4 metres from the south east with an average period around the 10-second mark. Conditions were tricky and wave faces on bomb sets were into the double-overhead range. I shot from the usual mix of locations and ended up with a gallery of 136 shots. As usual, clicking on any of the pics will take you to the complete gallery where of course you can buy any that interest you!

PICS: DY point Thursday am

Posted on January 29th, 2015 in Don's surfin' pics.

At first it looked as though the Bureau might’ve been wrong about the wind… when I got to the point around 0830 there were 20 people in the water and some kinda nice head plus sections on offer. It gradually got lumpier, but for the next hour or so I managed to get a few waves – a sample of which are shown in the gallery below. As always, clicking on an image will take you to the entire gallery…

PICS: Late arvo Weds North Steyne

Posted on January 29th, 2015 in Don's surfin' pics.

After raining all day, the clouds lifted just before dusk on Weds 28 Jan 2015 at South Steyne and conditions started to get surfable for the crew who were on hand. I grabbed a few shots and as usual if you want one, just click on it and find it in the linked gallery.

PICS: South Narrabeen Wed 14 Jan 15 late afternoon

Posted on January 15th, 2015 in Don's surfin' pics, Top stories.

South Narrabeen was firing up in autumnesque style late in the afternoon and I managed to get 150 or so pictures of the action. If you were in the water around sunset just north of Marquesas, check ’em out. And if you weren’t, look and weep!
(fyi, if you want to see all the pictures, just click on any of these and the gallery will open in a new window)

A few pics from Monday at Dee Why

Posted on September 23rd, 2014 in Don's surfin' pics.

Monday morning saw some residual SSE swell in the chest plus range at Dee Why, so I grabbed the camera and went shooting until the wind finally messed it up too much. If you were in the water around 0900 and you caught a wave at the south end or the point, there’s a good chance I got a shot or two.

Fun was had as the tide dropped and the swell hung in there
