Nothing terribly special, but it’s a beautiful sunny day, so what’s some ESE chop between friends? Buncha peoples at the point, but I only saw a couple small ones caught in next to the rocks. The beach has more size and consistency, but they’re crumbly and junky, so don’t expect too much in the way of quality. On the other hand, the bigger ones are delivering wave faces into the shoulder high range.

Hello Friends,

A small and choppy start to proceedings this morning. Very messy and not too big along the Collaroy Narrabeen stretch. There were a few bods having a lash at the little thing peeling near the pool on the high tide, but it was pretty small. Up the beach from there the conditions deteriorated rapidly. Couldn’t see anyone in the water, nor any reason to be in said water.

Around the corner, Longy was a mess too. Wind is just coming straight into it, and the swell’s just not showing much at all. There are some junky chest high sets from about the pole south, but only one or two people were keen enough to chase them. A small group was bobbing about near the rocks at the point as well, but I didn’t see anyone catch anything. I’d guess the sets would be in the waist high range.

Wind is set to stay SE all day and overnight into tomorrow morning, so no real prospect of improvement on that front.

Swell is averaging about 2 metres this morning, but the Bureau and the models predict that it will drop into tomorrow and be very small to nearly flat come Monday.

We’re not really looking too flash for the next week along most of the NSW coast. Your best bet for a decent wave will be way up north where there could be a bit of east swell action. I reckon the Ballina to Tallow zone looks about the best…

Have yourself a top old weekend and go well!

Hello Friends,

Not too flash out there this morning. SSE wind is pushing along at a surf destroying 20-30 knots. The outlook is for it to slack off this afternoon and to go more SE, so who knows, maybe some of the south corners will come into play. But you’d have to say it’s not exactly looking like being all time. Swell at sea off Sydney is averaging around the 3 metre mark from the south. It’s coming in at around 8 seconds apart, so there isn’t a lot of power. Waves are messy and unattractive – to put it mildly – and as a consequence, I wasn’t surprised not to see anyone in the water.

I’m intrigued to see the Eden buoy showing an average period of around 11 seconds. There’s no guarantee we’ll see that make its way this far north, but the latest run of the wave forecast models is calling for our average period to jump into a similar range this afternoon. Should that happen, we might get a little more energy getting into the corners.

The Bureau says we’re set to have SE wind into Saturday, so the best hope for a wave will probably be the early (when the tide, sadly, is full).

Ah well, Huey will come to the party eventually, so keep on smilin’ and go well with today’s adventures.

Hello Friends,

Another morning of greyness and smallness. Wind is 10-20kts out of the SW, so it’s clean in the south corners. But the swell’s gone dead south. It’s averaging a touch under two metres at sea with an average period of just 7 seconds. The biggest wave I saw, indeed the only one in a little under 10 mins of watching, was the one I got the picture of. I think it’s reasonable to suppose that we’re looking at similar struggling-to-be-waist-high conditions pretty much every where in Sydney this morning.

Gotta run, so will be back later with a few thoughts on the outlook…

Tides: L @1220, H @1815

Sydney Coastal Waters, Broken Bay to Port Hacking and 60nm seawards:<br
