Sadly, the high tide just seemed to be swamping the spots I checked – and those that weren’t swamped were getting the wind treatment in a big way.

Speaking of the wind, the SSW’ly really seems to be holding the very straight south swell off the protected ends of the beaches. Even so, I didn’t see anything impressive in the way of banks at sth Curly, Dee Why or Gardens. I got some pictures, but gee it took awhile. Most of the time it was just shutting down unmakeably.

So, guess I’ll get some work taken care of and then see what lower tide looks like…

Hello Friends,

South swell has ramped right up overnight and as of around 0800 it was tipping the scales at 4 metres on average with a solid period of 10 seconds. It’s a very straight south, so some places are getting the full energy while not far away (eg the beachy and point at Dee Why) people are getting half as many waves.

The Northy to Collaroy stretch was showing chest to head high plus conditions from about Wetherill St north. However, judging from the small number of bods in, there wasn’t much happening at Northy. There were small numbers scattered in the peaks along the beach south from there. Mostly it wasn’t looking too flash, but there were definitely some solid specimens to be had if you were in the right spot.

Around at Longy there were just a few people chasing lumpy chest to head high things on the inside of the bombies. The real action was from about No Man’s southward. Heaps of people were on it and it looked like there were some tasty sections to be had. The point had its usual contingent, but in the time I watched, nothing much happened for them.

The swell is set to continue, if not increase a bit more, for at least another 24 hours. Wind wasn’t too bad to begin with Tuesday morning, but the Bureau has hoisted the strong wind warnings, so the S-SWly’s set to become a dominant factor as the day unfolds.

According to the latest run of the models it looks as though we should get reasonable size swell of some sort for at least a couple days. Wouldn’t surprise me if the average height didn’t drop below the 2 metre mark until Thursday. Some of the model interpretations are showing a reasonable east pulse arriving late Friday into Saturday, so what with one thing and another, it should be possible to get wet all this week.

Go well with your plans and have yourself a great day. (I plan to return later with a few pics if I can get any)

<img
