Morning pic round-up: Freshy & Curly
Posted on April 17th, 2009 in At large, Curl Curl, Freshwater.Freshy seemed a bit better than yesterday. But again, it was tending toward closeouts much of the time. As usual, if you were in the right spot, at the right time, a wave there was as fun as a wave anywhere else!
Curly was strangely subdued. There were plenty of folks in the water, but the middle of the beach which had been pretty fun looking yesterday was afflicted by a lull that outlasted my picture taking patience. Got a snap anyway to give you an idea of how it looked from the south end. Though judging from wozthatyou.com’s contribution, the north end was a different story.
Morning pic round-up: Manly
Posted on April 17th, 2009 in At large, Curl Curl, Dee Why, Fairy Bower, Freshwater, Manly.Hello Friends,
Another bout of picture taking by yours truly… started at Manly around 0730 and took pics for about 20 minutes. It was pretty consistent, but not quite at the pace of yesterday. Size was down too, but it was still clean and pretty fun looking – if a wee bit soft. Seemed to me that fishes and mals were had the edge overall. Didn’t take a close look, but it appeared that there were a number of folks hooking waves out at the Bower as well.

Nice use of a little stall to set up the section, midway between Queensy and North Steyne this morning.
Morning run around, Freshy to DY
Posted on April 9th, 2009 in At large, Curl Curl, Dee Why, Freshwater. All pretty fat and full along the southern end of the peninsula this morning (as those of you who checked out the vid broadcast from the beach).
Here are a few snaps to give you a feel for the conditions.
Doing the run around
Posted on April 3rd, 2009 in At large, Curl Curl, Dee Why, Fairy Bower, Freshwater, Gardens, North Narrabeen.Lotsa waves around this morning. Nowhere truly mindblowing, but there are heaps of opportunities for fun all up and down the beaches. I saw perfectly surfable waves at the following:
The executive summary:
Northy: 6/10
Dee Why beach: 4/10
Dee Why point: 4/10
North Curly: 7/10
Freshwater: 5/10
Queenscliff: 6/10
North Steyne: 6/10
South Steyne: 7/10
Bower: 6/10
Everyone’s in, where are ya?
Posted on March 28th, 2009 in At large, Curl Curl, Freshwater, Manly. It’s the last day of kid cricket season and I really need to be at my daughter’s final game. But what about you? I’m pretty sure 90 percent of people who can surf, or would like to, were in the water this morning. I checked Manly (including the Bower), Freshy and Curly and certainly at around high tide, Manly was the pick – the very crowded pick – of the pack. Freshy had a few okay ones in the south corner and was good for learners up the north end. Curly had some size, but it was pretty fat and disorganised when I checked it around 0920-0930.
Anyway, here are a few snaps to give you a rough idea of how it all was looking…

Queensie 5/10
And here are some pics:
Running around
Posted on March 23rd, 2009 in At large, Curl Curl, Dee Why, Freshwater, North Narrabeen.Hello Friends,
Went for a loop from Manly to Northy this morning. Places with any exposure to the windswell direction were showing a little line. But being windswell, it almost always looked better than it really was. Of course coming off a high tide at around 0700 probably wasn’t helping much either.
Manly and Northy were the busiest, although on a wave quality scale they were only a little above Curly which had less than 10 folks in the water from one end of the beach to the other. Had to do a fair amount of waiting to get a snap of anyone on a wave. Dee Why and Freshy were pretty micro.
So, here, for what they’re worth are a few of the snaps I picked up on my wanderings this morning…
