For Sale –  I have a Surtech (Tuflite) Velzy 12 foot Hawaiian Paddle board (not SUP) for sale.  Excellent condition. $950.00 (cost $1600.00 + new).  This board is a standard class racing paddle board and goes like the clappers, very fast.  Good cross trainer for paddling on flat days.  If you are interested I can send photos.  Contact Matt at  ms2007@bigpond.com

Fine, dry and ‘cool’ on the Central Coast this Tuesday morning.  The swell is smooth and small at 1 – 2 feet  from the east southeast.  There is a northwest puff, just turning light north northeast and forecast to freshen later.  Low tide at 0855 and high tide around 1520.  Local barometer 1017 hpa, 14 degrees C. 92% humidity.   Have a good one.

Well, well, well, we have a winner In Byron Bay Today. G.J. Evans of NSW has contacted us within the twenty four hour alotted time limit. So the $1600 dollars worth of 9’8” Bob Brown Nose Rider has been claimed. A big thanks to Bob Brown Longboards for donating the shaped blank. As for the rest, well Longboard Clinic footed the bill for the glassing and fin and handling. So there you have it folks, we promised you two custom made boards would be given away, and that’s exactly what we did. But don’t panic if you didn’t score one. Because we still have plenty of nice freebees in the kitty to give away. There will also be more Bob Browns up for grabs, even if we have to pay, we’ll still give more away. Why? That’s easy, because it feels good the give, and we like to feel good here, in Byron Bay today. As for today’s update, well folks we good waves and reasonable weather, the surf wasn’t perfect, but it was bloody good fun. The swell had more power in it than we’ve felt for a while, and there much rejoicing and many a smile, In Byron Bay Today.  Don’t forget, if you’re hoping to win a board or any other freebees, you need to be and active subscriber of In Byron Bay Today

It was another summery winter’s day In Byron Bay Today. Good God we’ve had it good, with the weather lately. Ok folks there were a few small waves in the bay today, nothing too flash, or powerful. But for the logging crew and the little ones there were plenty of slides to be had. The swell swung a little from the south to the south east allowing a little more size to creep into the bay as the day went on. But as the swell increased the wind slowly swung onshore. However it never really got strong enough to much of an issue, In Byron Bay Today. To all those fabulous folks who chose to pose, thank you, for being here with us In Byron Bay Today.

Saturday surf pics from Dee Why

Posted on August 8th, 2009 in Click! Pics for folk, surf photography, Top stories.

Went shooting at Dee Why a couple times today. For the short first session, I set up just south of the Pole and shot toward the right handers on the peak in front of the SLSC, plus the occasional set on the point.

Check out all the pictures from the first session here

After running an errand, I came back for another session at noon. I ended up sticking aroun until 130pm mostly shooting the peak in front of the SLSC, but also grabbing the odd shot from the point. The peak had a lot more juice and though the wind was getting into it, there were some fun looking lefts and rights in amongst the numerous straighthanders. Chances are if you were in the water and caught any waves, I will have taken your picture!

Check out all the pictures from the 2nd session here

Geez did Huey just hit the replay button In Byron Bay Today or what? The swell was just a tad smaller but that was about the only difference, everything else was a perfect copy of the last few days. We’ve been blessed with warm weather, light winds and clean small waves all week. But the operative word here is SMALL we really haven’t seen any sign of substantial swell for some time now. Now as most of you would know. This weekend sees the  Sea Cell gallery’s Zine Age Riot exhibit. This kicks at 11am on Saturday the 8th and promises some joyously funky fringe dwelling creativity of its own, I’d say it’s a gig you won’t want to miss.  Have  a fun and safe weekend all, and we’ll be back soon with more of, In Byron Bay Today.

It was just that kind of day, In Byron Bay Today
It was just that kind of day, In Byron Bay Today

Ah yes August it’s such a beautiful time to be, In Byron Bay Today. Once again an almost summer like day was on offer for the Byronians. I mean ok, let’s get real here; obviously it’s not really like summer up here, because there’s no humidity. But it was indeed very warm, sunny and just downright pretty all day long. Now the waves were kind of nice, but there’s not much to go around. The banks aren’t really lining up and it’s got the crowd concentrated all in one spot. This puts a lot of pressure on everyone, both locals and visitors alike. Or to put it simply I witnessed a lot of behaviour today from people who’d do well to click on our Byron Surf Lore link and have a really good read. Be that as it may, there was still plenty of fun to be had by most. But remember folks when you’re learning something new, practice away from the crew.  In Byron Bay Today.

Dee Why Beach 31 July 2009 1605-1620

After shooting at Curly, I ducked back over the hill to see what I could find at Dee Why. Wave quality was not as good, but there were some nice ones coming in at the point (the beachy was shutting down a fair amount) These images can be enlarged quite a bit, so you can crop in on the subject and still get something good enough to use for a large print. That’s because they were shot with Nikon’s top of the range D3 professional camera and the equally top of the range 200-400mm zoom.

Small but fun In Byron Bay Today
Small but fun In Byron Bay Today

The weather was just beautiful, In Byron Bay Today. We were all expecting a nor-easter to blow through Byron. But it didn’t eventuate. The wind stayed low and the bay was  brushed clean by a light offshore breeze all day. The bay is usually quiet with small waves at this time of year, and it’s not unusual to experience warm days with warm water. It’s like a reprieve from the cold as winter begin to shift. People start making noises about summer coming early and that kind of stuff. But oh how quick we forget, it does this every year. We get all wound up in August, about an early summer. But there’s a twist to this story, it catches the whole town by surprise every year without fail. Just as we head into spring the cold returns with a blast driving up the coast all the way from the Antarctic. Be interesting to see if this years the same. In the mean time I say enjoy it while it lasts, lap it up and get out for some sun. Because it’s great to be down the beach in boardies and a tee shirt while it’s still officially winter, In Byron Bay Today.

Went for a surf Friday mid-morning at the Path in Newport. Had the Panasonic Lumix DMC- FT1 water camera tucked in the wetty and grabbed a few shots…

We’ll be telling you guys more about that later, because that ain’t the end of it, it’s just the beginning. There will more, much more, but if you don’t check the site and subscribe; well you probably won’t win. As for Silas,  congratulations in order buddy, we can’t wait to see you surf it. Now to the surf, it was bloody average but hey it was another stunner of a day.
