Ya gotta wait for these sets...

The super peak still offering a few for the dedicated.
Hello Friends,
Waves around this morning and the wind wasn’t beating it up at Dee Why as of 0800. Wind is due to be a factor though. Sets in the beachy were head high plus and the point was showing maybe shoulder high. I’d expect some bomb sets to be in the mix because the buoy is currently swell + sea heights of 4 metres and there is some 10 sec period stuff in amongst the 9 sec waves.
Surf prospects for the next few days look okayish to me. Not great maybe, but it shouldn’t take a lot of internal dialogue to get you into the water if you’re even remotely stoked. Beyond that, things are really looking interesting. A substantial region of fetch is showing on the model projections for this weekend. It looks as though it will push down from the north and start washing the east coast with swell from late Saturday through Monday. If you have a fave east swell spot, might be a plan to book yourself some time to check it on Sunday and Monday. Usual caveats apply: these are computer model projections. They get it right most, but not all of the time.
High tide’s set to arrive around 0854 and low will come along at 1417.
Sydney Coastal Waters, Broken Bay to Port Hacking and 60nm seawards:
Wednesday until midnight: Wind: E/SE 10/15 knots reaching 15/20 knots at times. Sea: 1 to 1.5 metres. Swell: S/SE 2 to 3 metres decreasing.
Thursday: Wind: E/SE 10/15 knots reaching 15/20 knots at times. Sea: 1 to 1.5 metres.Swell: SE 1.5 to 2 metres.
Friday: Wind: SE/NE 10/20 knots.

Tags: 7/10, Add new tag, SSE-2m-9s. Hello again Friends,
Wandered around the landscape on your behalf this morning and gathered a few snaps to share…
Started at Manly where the crowds were surprisingly modest for a sunny Saturday morning. Guess that cold wind is keeping a fair number of us out of the water for the early. Sets were into the chest high range, but waits were pretty long. Clean and amusing looking though.
Around to Freshwater next, and there the crowds were equally uncrowdy early. Swell was more consistent, but the shutdown factor was very high when I watched it a couple hours after high tide.
Curly was quite well attended with people scattered from one end to the other of the beach. Sets were into the overhead range and the folks were doing a lot of peak and section chasing. Looks like a good workout and there were a few juicy specimens on offer. Probably the biggest waves I saw.
Over the hill at Dee Why things seem to be about the same as when I reported earlier, ie, inconsistent and smaller at the point, then shoulder to head high up the beach from just north of the clubhouse to the Lugga entrance. Crowds were crowdy too.
If you can’t find yourself a wave somewhere, you aren’t trying very hard!

Little peak didn't go unanswered this morning.

Tags: Add new tag. Well its a bit smaller than the previous few days sadly and one would think that its a nice opportunity to do some chores and earn some brownie points round the house. A shame as conditions are perfect. Still a few fun sized sets around but they are few and far between. Most sets are waist high and there is the normal Sat morning crew heavily amongst it already.

WEEKLY REPORTS for 2008
Report No: 48-08
Period: Monday 24th to Sunday 30th November 2008
Monday. High tide 4:37am and 4:45pm. There was a new East push in the swell so the crew hit Village Lefts for an early. It was super clean with overhead sets allowing for a few racy barrels or a few top turns. Arvo session at Pebbles as the SE wind had come up during the day where the waves were short, steep and intense which suited our body boarding guests who loved the consistent barrels. Most of the stand up surfers pulled the back peak which had longer more playful walls.
Tuesday. High tide 5:15am and 5:21pm. Two boat trips today with the first boat to Wakas which was amazingly uncrowded with some super fun head high waves. It was glassy and sunny so guests were stoked. The other boat stopped at Special K and got some fun head high rights. The sets were pretty good but you had to pick them as it was a bit sectiony. Still everyone was happy with the mornings sessions.
Wednesday. High tide 5:52am and 5:56pm. One group went over to the North side early and surfed The Rock which was clean and about head high with a reasonable shape allowing 2 or 3 turns per wave and fun with no one else out. The other group did a boat trip to Wakas and had a fun session which was smaller than yesterday but still holding a nice shape. It was a bit crowded with 15 surfers in the water, but there were still plenty of waves to go round. Some of the guests surfed out at Resorts late arvo. It was up to head high, clean and option of lefts or rights.
Thursday. High tide 6:28am and6:32pm. Out on the boat with another early start and once again no wind. It was hard to go past Special K which had some fun little rights running down the reef. It was lining up well and with only 4 guys in the water there plenty of waves to go around. Another arvo session at Resorts in clean conditions. The swell picked up with the incoming tide so the sets were pretty good.
Friday. High Tide 7:03am and 7:09pm. Another dawn patrol back to Special K showed the swell was a bit bigger than yesterday with sets a bit over head high. Still lined up well and a few barrels along with long walls. No wind so another clean session for about 4 hours.
Saturday. High tide 7:40am. With the majority of our guests leaving today they didn’t do a boat trip as conditions at Resorts looked great with head high peaks and no wind.
Sunday. High tide 8:18 am. Light east winds put a slight ripple across the small shoulder high waves out front at the Resorts. Still fun if you picked the right one.

Out front of Sa
WEEKLY REPORTS for 2008
Report No: 45-08
Period: Monday 3rd to Sunday 8th November
Monday. High tide 10.44am. Pebbles was 1st stop & it was looking good with light offshore easterly wind & a clean south swell Pebs was doing its thing. The inside section had a heap of barrels, but walls enough to do turns on. With only 3 in the water, beautiful sunny day and offshore waves it was a cracker of a day. They surfed head high sets from 9am till 1.15pm.
Tuesday. High tide 11.53am. No surf trip today as all guests were leaving. But there were clean fun waves out the front sat resorts for the guides. Shoulder high, offshore and no one out so good.
Wednesday. High tide 12.53pm. With a strong south easterly blowing Pebbles was the place. Despite the conditions the inside section was really surfable. The strong offshore meant late and steep takeoffs. The wind did back off and the wave quality improved, with head high sets, and the odd bigger one, and with every 2nd wave spitting barrels. The crew from 10.30 till 3pm
Thursday. High tide 1.41pm. No surf trip today due to the strong onshore and bad weather. There was a new south west swell but it looked ugly so they opted for a day in town. On return to the resort it had glassed right off but only Boulders may have been holding the size of the swell.
Friday. High Tide 2.22pm. Dawn patrol straight to Boulders for the early low tide. It had dropped a touch in size but it was still solid enough for Boulders to break. Head and half high were the sets, but because of the south west swell, wave selection was important. Only really able to do 1 or 2 turns but it was really racy. They had it to themselves from 6am till 12pm so the crew were super stoked.
A quick stop at Pebbles on the way back for a barrel fix, but the SE was up so only had a quickie.
Saturday. High tide 3.01pm. Around 3.00pm after a lazy morning Resorts had some nice peaks and it was like sheet glass. There was the odd barrel but lots of turns to be done. With lefts and rights out there everyone got a heap of fun waist to head high waves. The 3 guests and 3 staff put on a good show for the Vailima drinkers on the deck.
Sunday. High tide 3.42pm. A mid day trip to Wakas which was very wackable! Head high sets, sunny skies and no one on it they were loving life. 4 in the water for 2 hours, 2 or 3 turns a wave, then they bailed over to Special K. Thanks to the glassy conditions K was pretty sick. Only shoulder high but super lined up the natural footers loved it, able to do a few reo’s each wave. We had that for an hour and a half, then it was back for bbq night and the Vailimas again went down well.

WEEKLY REPORTS for 2008
Report No: 40-08
Period: Monday 6th to Sunday 12th October
Well it happens every where right across our great surfing world at some time or other and unfortunately last week was pretty ordinary one in Samoa so its a very brief surf report for last week.
Monday through Friday Saw a combination of little to no swell combined with strong SE winds meaning the only surfing was a desperation paddle out the front @ Resorts on Thursday and Friday for the eager & keen (diehards would be a better term).
Saturday. High tide 3:55am and 4:18pm With the over night promise of a new SW swell, after a bit of a dry spell, all the crew were getting pumped about the thought of the potential for today. With the early high tide a few guys made it out of the for a pre dawn paddle out the front @ Resorts with a few nice clean head high peaks making the early rise well worth while. In the afternoon with a rising swell they charged down to Pebbles and were greeted by overhead barrels in the strong offshore conditions. They all scored one or two good ones with some deep tubes made.
Sunday. High tide 4:34am and 4:55pm Awaking in the early hours with high hopes they headed back to Pebbles in the early morning light. On arrival they found some overhead peaks plunging into the reef and the occasional classic barrel was scored. The benefit of the morning session was the lack of wind which did not blow up until the arvo.
Apologies for shots this week, but I’ve popped in of our great pool at Sa’Moana Resort that is an awesome place for a plunge and an ‘in water refreshment’ no matter what the waves are like.
Cheers……………George
