Get out there for the early

Posted by: on November 5th, 2011

Hello Friends,
Glassy little south lines getting into Dee Why this morning. Sets were into the chest high range at the point and a bit bigger along the beach. The MHL buoy is showing two metres of south swell at a healthy 11 seconds apart, so I’m mildly surprised that it’s not a bit more impressive. The NE’r will kick in as the day goes along and by this afternoon it’s set to be a summery 20 kts.

Speaking of summery, I went for a splash yesterday at Longy bombies and the water seemed to just a touch warmer over last go-out and there were blue bottles drying on the beach. (Didn’t see any in the water though).

Anyway, get out there as soon as you can and make for a south swell spot for maximum energy levels.

From the look of this morning’s run of the swell forecast interpretations, we’re heading into a week of summery ordinariness. Indeed, if they have it right, we’re going to have knee high dribble for at least a week – at the big spots. Oh, and it’ll be more grey than not, with the week ahead forecast now pointing to showers every day. So make the most of today!

Go well one and all.

Weather Situation

A high pressure system centred just east of Victoria will move further into the Tasman Sea today, while a trough of low pressure approaches the state’s west. Between these two systems, north to northeasterly winds are expected to develop along the coast through the weekend. The trough is expected to move across New South Wales during Sunday and Monday and will affect southern parts of the coast as the trough moves offshore on Monday and Tuesday.

Forecast for Saturday until midnight

Monday, Monday and the waves are still here

Hello Friends,

Although they had to contend with an 0620 high tide, the crew at Dee Why point were still finding a few fun sets this morning for the early. The wind was relatively light and out of the W to NW. The Bureau says the swell should stick around at the present two metres or so, but we can expect the wind to get more around to the S to SE as the day goes along. By this time tomorrow some of the models have average wave heights at south spots dropping into the waist high range, but they’re also showing another spike for around Weds.

Go well with your plans!

If you’re just checking in and want to know what happened over the weekend, here are my galleries which I mostly shot with the super shmick Nikon D3S. Who knows, I might have got a snap or two of you! (click the pic to go to the gallery)

Hello Friends,

Short and sweet: it’s firing again this morning (‘scuse me while I wipe this egg off my face). Swell is a couple metres from the south at 11-13 seconds apart, so if you got waves there yesterday, check it again today.
Pics up shortly…
Low tide is at 1023 and high’s at 1712.

Not as big as the beachy but fun looking for sure.
