Aloha Surfboards Goes Global

Aloha Surf International is pleased to announce it has entered into a licence agreement with Global Surf Industries to manufacture and distribute a specialised range of Aloha surfboards worldwide.

The arrangement will provide distribution of the iconic Australian surfboard brand through the Global Surf Industries (GSI) core surf dealership network into over 50 countries.

Initially, GSI will offer four models from the Aloha range aimed primarily at the high performance end of the market. The new Aloha GSI models; AFI Pro, AF2 Turbo, the Stryker and the Quickshift have been designed to offer surfers a comprehensive range of performance surfboard options. Aloha Brand Ambassador, Surfboard Manager and former WCT surfer, Richie Lovett, will spearhead the Aloha GSI surfboard program.

Richie spoke enthusiastically about the opportunity. “We wanted to make sure the new models offered something for pros and elite level surfers right through to the weekend surfer. The range itself features two high performance short board variations, an all-round short board and a performance fish model. Although each model is designed primarily for performance surfing we have structured the sizes to offer a valid option for the intermediate surfer as well. A great deal of time and energy has gone into designing these boards and translating feedback from our team riders has been a key part of the formula to producing this specialised Aloha GSI range”.

GSI has built an enviable reputation for surfboard manufacturing excellence and have created a superb global sales and distribution network that will now include the famed Aloha brand which will sit alongside the existing brands of Webber, McTavish, Walden, Modern, South Point, 7S, NSP and Blue.

GSI President and Managing Director, Mark Kelly believes, “The addition of Aloha will add an exciting new dimension to our current product range and will offer our dealers a complete solution for their customers. Aloha has maintained a strong position for quality and performance surfing since its inception and the pedigree of the brand linked to former world champion surfers and the current Aloha team riders will allow us to showcase the brand globally like never before.”

Richie adds; “We are excited about this deal as it means we will be working closely with the current team riders including, Luke Munro, Mark Matthews, Zahn Foxton, Matt Bemrose and Jarrah Tutton to continually develop, test and evolve our designs to meet the needs of surfers everywhere. Having access to these ‘test pilots’ is invaluable because it ensures the right product goes to market.”

The Aloha GSI range will be available in Australian stores this summer. Northern Hemisphere release will be March 2009.
