There’s a little something left

Midday update:

Swell looked pretty small when I checked Long Reef around 1100. Average size has slipped down since I wrote this morning’s report. There were lots of folks in the water and it was lightly offshore, but the waits for the waist high sets were very long indeed. I’d expect it to decrease further today and at this stage wouldn’t amend my comments below…

Hello Friends,

As anticipated, it’s smaller again this morning, but not completely flat – as long as you’re somewhere with good exposure to the SE. At Dee Why, the surface conditions are just about glassy as I write this and every now and then a waist high wave shows up. There are probably a few slightly bigger ones up the beach toward Longy, but you can expect to do a fair amount of meditation because those lulls are long and getting longer.

The Bureau is calling for the wind to pick up from the N-NW and get into the 15-20 kt range ahead of a W-SW change later in the morning, which in turn will be chased up the coast by a southerly change of around 20-25 kts this evening. Could be a plan to get into it earlier rather than later, I’d say. The fact that we have a mid afternoon high tide, adds another argument for alacrity.

Tomorrow’s outlook is for a morning shower along with SE wind and short period SE windswell. According to the computer models, it’ll be flat to nearly flat across Monday and Tuesday in the Sydney region. From about Wednesday on, those same models are pointing toward small, but surfable, east windswell.

Have yourself a top old day!
