Hello Friends,
As his august Goatness has noted, the south swell, while definitely here, has not quite lived up to the advance billing. As of noon the MHL Sydney buoy was showing SSE swell of close to 2 metres at 9 seconds. Meanwhile, down at Batemans Bay the same settings prevailed roughly 8 hours earlier. Now it’s up to 11 sec on average, even though the average size hasn’t kicked up above 2 metres. What that says to me is that there is an excellent chance that the swell will keep on through to dark, and may even push up a bit as the longer period stuff starts filling in to our region.
After filing those video reports this morning, I went up to have a squizz at south Narra. There were heaps of people scattered along the beach from Gardens to Northy But I kind of felt like driving the fishy around on the broader shoulders down at the Longy bombies. Long Wait was its usual self, ie lots of shifting peaks, moments of power and moments of fatness. Didn’t catch a lot of waves myself, but had fun and the water is just so, so warm!
When I got back to the RealSurf wheelhouse, I discovered that all the fantastic shots I got this morning were corrupted on my camera memory card. First time I’ve seen such a thing happen. Fortunately, I grabbed a couple shots after getting out of the water at Longy, so at least I can post something with this update.
If possible I’ll try to grab another shot or two before close of play…
