Southerly old morning

Hello Friends,

Well, not too flash as things kicked off this morning in Sydney. The SEly isn’t blowing as hard as it was at dusk yesterday, but 15-20 kts is still enough to trash things pretty thoroughly even at a spot like Dee Why. A high tide around 1020 isn’t making a positive contribution either.

From the latest run of MHL data, it looks as though the swell has now pushed up the coast from Sydney, but it’s still showing at a couple metres offshore from our fair city. Period’s are only 8-9 seconds though, so I’m wondering if it’ll be wrapping into the protected points up north. Hope to have some news on that front via PB and/or Brian later.

Surf Outlook
From the latest run of the models, it appears that we’re looking at marginal, but not flat conditions for the next few days (and likely beyond). The swell is probably going to fade slowly today and into tomorrow. But from late afternoon on Weds, we’re supposed to see longer period south swell. Before you get too excited though, the swell height is looking to be fairly small, so I’m expecting we’ll be fortunate to see the wave faces get into the chest high range at exposed spots. The good thing is that there should be some juice to ’em if the period does in fact get into the 14-15 second range. As usual, I hope to be proven unduly conservative!

Pick day for Sydney? Hmmm… I’m thinking Thursday for the early before the midday high tide whacks it.

Go well with your day and may your plans all unfold to your satisfaction!
