"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Wow, sunny again

Hello Friends,

Can’t complain about the weather settings lately. This morning started off mostly sunny with only a light breeze along the beaches. As anticipated though, swell energy is at a pretty low ebb. The MHL buoy off Sydney shows the swell coming mainly from the south, however, it’s only about a metre with an average period of 8 seconds. That means you’ll really be scratching around to find much of anything even at south facing stretches. There is some 14 second stuff showing in the mix, so that may possibly deliver the odd slightly bigger set. but I wouldn’t be expecting too much on that score. Wind is set to be lightly onshore through the day, starting out of the ESE at first and gradually moving around toward the NE. On that basis maybe there’ll be a little something up in the north corner for the after work crew.

On another front, how would you like to win a hand-shaped replica of the thruster Simon Anderson used to win at Bells in 1981? Simon pulled out his templates and notes and has shaped a copy of the board that spawned the greatest transformation of surfing since the shortboard itself. It’s a fundraiser for Surfrider Foundation and the experts have declared that the board will be worth around $3000. Anyway,  yours truly has a booklet of raffle tickets to sell. They’re 5 bucks each or three for 10 bucks. To get some for yourself, just use the feedback form to let me know how many tickets you want and I’ll arrange to get ’em to ya. (The drawing will be held just ahead of the men’s finals at this year’s Bells).

Have yourself a good one!
