"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Cold early, but waves to be had

Hello Friends,

Have to say that I was a bit surprised when I climbed aloft to the RealSurf crow’s nest to look at the ocean for the first time this morning. The MHL buoy off Sydney was showing 3.5 metres from the south at an average period of 9 seconds, so it “should” have been bigger at the point and along the beach. Instead, the biggest sets were maybe into the head high and a bit range.

Tide was basically high (@0635), and maybe as it drops to the low at 1215 the sets will start standing up more.

Wind was west to SW at about 10-15kts along the coast, but plainly it was going a lot harder out at sea and the call is for it to be southerly 20-25 kts.

Although it looks from the MHL data as though the swell may have peaked for now, some of the forecast models are pointing to a strong pulse building to a peak tomorrow. The indications are that we’ll have energy around right into the weekend.

Go well with your Tuesday!
