Looking pretty tiny out there

High tide and not much

Hello Friends,

Although high tide isn’t until 1030, as of 0700 Dee Why looked pretty full. Not that it matters much because the energy levels have tailed right away to almost nothing. The swell spectral chart from MHL shows only short period (5-7 seconds) wind swell coming from the NE and south. There were a few hopefuls bobbing about where the waves have been for the last 4 or 5 days, but really, if a waist high set turned up, that’d be a special event this morning.

There doesn’t seem to be any real prospect of an improvement today, although the forecast is for the wind to be a summery NE’r at up to 25 kts in the afternoon, so I don’t know, maybe… there might be a little wind swelly slop burger to be had in the north corners for the late.

Not a fabulous outlook it has to be said for the week ahead. Nothing much of interest in the near term swell modelling either. With luck we’ll see some sort of uptick on Thursday. Here’s hoping!

Here’s hoping as well that this week will see pledges to our crowdfunding effort start picking up. It’s gone pretty quiet on that front, worryingly so for yours truly. So scratching around for something to gee it up, I’ve decided we need a party to look forward to. It’s early days on the planning, but I’ve had a word with Steve at Deck Bar in Dee Why and he’s put our name down in his big book for Wed 23 October.

Our crowdfunding campaign ends at 0100 on the 24th, so Don’s Surf Party will either be a celebration or a wake. We’ll cross out the adjective that doesn’t apply on the night. 🙂 I’m just starting to secure the entertainment, but Tim Bonython has promised to turn up with some fresh footage to show, and I’ll roll out some of my rarely seen footage of MP, Rabbit, Terry Fitz and Dee Why’s very own Peter Crawford. I’ll be keeping you posted as the program develops, but in the meantime, to get an invite, you need to get that pledge taken care of asap. Spaces are limited and therefore I’m only offering them to pledgers.

It’ll be a night of surf, surf and more surf and it’d be great to see you there so click the link below, join the pledgers and an invite to Don’s Surf Party will head your way.
