Hello Friends,

RealSurf HQ is socked in as I write this, so pics will have to wait until the visibility improves. The MHL buoy is showing 3.6 metres of 9 second SE swell and wind is out of the south at anywhere from 15 to 30 kts along the Sydney coast. The Bureau says it will be all over the eastern quarters today and staying pretty strong – indeed they have a gale warning up for Sydney coastal waters. We’re going to have rain all day too. I don’t like to give up on a day until the sun sets, but you have to say this isn’t looking hopeful for surfers.

The wind should relent and toward tomorrow afternoon it might even be sort of okay in an onshorey way. Sadly, the swell is set to drop even more quickly than the wind. The rest of the week is looking pretty complex as the wind forecasts show constant fluctuations in direction and junk making velocities. After peaking at some point in the next 24 hours and then the models show it bumbling around in the metre range – ie nothing major is showing in the predictions.

Have yourself a great Monday and check back because I’ll get a picture or two up as soon as the gloom lifts.
