Should be a few waves around the joint

Hello Friends,

We have little waves this morning at Dee Why. Unfortunately the combo of no banks and low tide means lots of long, lined up waist to chest shutdowns. The point was trying, but you’d want something pretty floaty and it’d help not to expect much above waist high.

At 0200 the MHL Sydney buoy was showing swell broadly coming at us from the SSE. It was about a metre high out at sea on average and the period was registering at a healthy looking 13 seconds. Way down the coast at Eden it was the same swell direction but 2.5 metres with an average period of 8.5 seconds. Just before dawn the wind was out of the SW and according to the Bureau it should stay that way through the morning before going southerly around midday.

Tomorrow’s supposed to be southerly in the morning and SE in the afternoon, so although the swell is expected to push up a little more, the surf options aren’t too promising. From this morning’s swell models, it seems as though Tuesday and Wednesday are shaping to be the best of the coming week. Assuming the wind backs off and the swell predictions are accurate, we could be looking at solid head to overhead conditions at magnet spots for a SE swell. Morning will be best from both a wind and tide perspective.
