"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

On the road: Crescent

Hello Friends,

It was in the diary. We had to do it. So, despite the outlook being dire, three of us piled into the car and headed north. First stop is Crescent Head and this morning finds the situation pretty much as anticipated. There’s a tiny, just barely catchable line north along the beach and the point is flat. However, the marine forecast is showing an uptick in SE swell for later in the day, so we’re nurturing modest hopes of something to catch by the time low tide arrives.

Sydney was showing a metre of SE swell at close to 12 seconds on the 0700 buoy report. We’re still looking at 7 seconds up this way… so who knows… maybe our timing isn’t that bad…

It looks as though Sydney should be picking the little pulse just ahead of us. Right now it’s shaping to be potentially pretty fun in Sydney this afternoon and into tomorrow morning before we drop back to micro for a few days before the next pulse develops late in the weekend.

Good luck wave hunting and more from me later…

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high extends a ridge across southern New South Wales. This high is expected to move to the western Tasman Sea today where it will remain until at least early next week. Cold fronts crossing the Southern Ocean over the coming days will have little or no effect on New South Wales as they slip away to the southeast past Tasmania. As the ridge moves into central parts of the state the southeasterly airstream should contract to the far north coast later in the week, with milder northeast to northwest winds across much of the remainder.
