Nothin’ doin’ at Dee Why this am

Hello Friends,

Very quiet at Dee Why. Conditions were perfect with clear skies and offshores brushing the ocean smooth. Sadly the swell energy has faded away for now. The MHL buoys for Sydney, Port Kembla and Batemans Bay are all offline, so I don’t have an objective number for you, but I’d guess we’re looking at less than a metre of ESE wind swell with an average period under 10 seconds.
Wind is due to swing south later this morning, so we might see a little uptick, but I’d be surprised if anywhere protected from the south wind would be any more surfable than it was when I checked at 0730. Might even be some light precipitation with the change.
Outlook remains fairly ordinary across the next week or so. There might be a small uptick into the barely surfable range this weekend at east spots. But right now it looks like being only short period wind swell.
There’s no lack of energy in the deep southern ocean, but the weather patterns are keeping it from coming our way. Western Vicco and Tassie will be pumping (between bouts of blasting onshores).
Another excellent day for work or school I’d say, so keep on smilin’ and have yourself a good one.

No waves at the point @0730
