"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Back to small and marginal

Hello Friends,

Sunny skies, a light north breeze and only the tiniest south line. A high tide at 0605 this morning isn’t helping either, but I’m not convinced there’d be much going on even if it was low. The MHL Sydney buoy is off the air, so eyeballing it, I’d say there’s struggling to be a metre of south swell and the average period would be on the short side of 10 seconds. If you can find something in the waist high range, I reckon you’ll be doing very well indeed. Oh, and the wind is coming up NE soon, so bear that in mind.

A south change is expected through tomorrow for the early and as the day goes on the swell energy should start to increase again into the two metre range. But 25 kts of southerly will mean only a very limited set of options. Swell should stick around until Tuesday afternoon but it looks like we’re getting skunked on the wind because it’s supposed to be SE turning easterly.

Anywho, have a great Sunday everyone!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is extending a ridge over New South Wales coastal waters. The high will weaken during Sunday as a frontal system approaches from the west, with an associated southerly change expected to reach the far south coast late in the day. The southerly change will extend through to the Queensland border during Monday as the cold front moves eastwards into the Tasman Sea. During Tuesday and Wednesday winds on the south and central coasts will gradually turn north/northeasterly as another high pressure system moves to the east of Tasmania in the wake of the front.
